Sals, the shit has hit it as they say. Ron Weasley has been murdered, and it was most likely Bellatrix's doing. Please make sure the wards are secure on your house. Let me know if you need help. If I can't come there, perhaps Marietta would oblige?
Stay safe, love.

Been cleaning up the lab and have found some old boxes of school stuff. It's amusing what I decided was worth keeping from so long ago. I even have a couple of old Quibblers that I thought were...important.
The silk work continues to come along quite well. I have recently gone back to working with metals and various minerals for another new project. It appears that I will need to stock up on some of the more esoteric materials needed for my research. Time for another trip to Diagon, I suppose -- although there are a few specific crystal types that I believe may not be carried by my usual sources. (Attached: list of various material needs)

Back in the lab. Several projects going at once, as usual.
1. Silks as used in conjunction with curative magic look like they're working out fairly well. Have had a few unexpected trials here in the lab. Apparently I need to be a bit more careful. Haven't had a chance to work out the proximity effect that I noted back in January. I'll send off my notes to Professor Snape to see if he has any ideas for more in-depth work there.
2. Doping glass lenses. Back to working on the yttrium that was being used in transfiguration enhancement. A few of the pours that I have done have resulted in shattered plates (see use of healing silks above), but one of them worked out a particularly strong correlation. I am also looking into variation in the lens focal length. Too long is, of course, a problem for attachment to the wand, but it does give the benefit of a higher concentration of magic being passed through the lens material itself.
3. Scouring charm manipulation for use on damaged mammalian flesh. In working on this idea, I have in fact come up with a way to create a sort of "protoflesh" that can be used in experimentation. The material is pretty unstable, but it does last long enough to understand the effects of various short-term experiments. The upside here is that I no longer have to injure myself to test out various healing methods.
Personal Note: Still not quite able to focus on work as well as I ought. I haven't been this clumsy in the lab since I was a child! I'd try learning occlumancy if I thought it would help. Bloody distractions.

I am back on the Crags this weekend (and possibly beyond). Today's climbing was relaxing, even with the light rain that has been falling for the past few hours. I've had to refresh the warming charm on my gloves at least three times today. Losing my touch?
If anyone is interested in joining me, send an owl and I'll give you coordinates.

Been in the lab for the past week or so. I had originally started working on improvements to the curative silk sheets. (I believe they are ready for clinical trials.) However, during the course of my work, I found that there were several spells that appeared to be enhanced by proximity to the silk itself. In fact, I was able to perform several spells without benefit of my wand, as long as I was in contact with the silk. If I concentrate hard enough, I am able to move farther and farther from the wand, and still perform specific spells. Accio and Lumos are the easiest, but I have also had success with Engorgio, and even Magical Ropes!
