Occasionally commissioned to develop items for the Ministry. Currently working on improvements to various types of cloth used in magical garments (i.e. invisibility cloaks and other protective wear). Has assisted in development of various types of plant food for Neville’s more unusual projects. Also does some work for the private sector and for his own personal research. Current residence: Fitzrovia district near the West End, London Description: Dark hair, blue eyes. Still fairly thin, but has filled out a bit with age. Often forgets to shave for days/weeks when working on a particularly interesting project. Quick thinker and always in motion, doesn’t sit still very long. Paces when he is working on a particularly intriguing problem. Dresses in robes when going out with magic folk, but prefers muggle “jeans” for work, as they give a little better protection against spills in the lab. Tends toward dark colors. He wears a small white gold ring on the little finger of his left hand. Marcus is quite friendly, but often distracted by work. He lives for coming up with new magical materials, or making improvements to old ones. He doesn’t date much, but enjoys going out with friends when he can pull himself out of the lab. When out, he will drink Guinness…occasionally to excess. Marcus has two ferrets, who's greatest enjoyment in life is to get into his lab and muck up his research. Unfortunately, most of what he was able to do at the time was to pass information back and forth between folks at the front line and brew a few potions as requested, but it was something. History (emphasis on the period since 1997): Marcus comes from a fairly wealthy family, and, although not to the Malfoy level, he is in no danger of starvation. After graduation, he set up a small lab in a warehouse in the Fitzrovia district near the West End, London and began working on building a clientele for his magical endeavors. Not that he needs the money, but the added income keeps him able to stock some of the more unusual ingredients he needs for his research. His mother, Penelope (nee Greengrass, Slytherin, class of 1972), was killed by a DE in 1998 (May 28th) as punishment for being on the "wrong side" of the war, apparently betraying her house. Her death was quite a blow to Marcus and was the last brick in the wall between him and his father. He misses her terribly, and is torn between her teachings about accepting all people and the horror he has seen coming from a specific group of wizards. Marcus has spent a significant amount of time traveling around the world collecting various plant and animal parts in order to further his study. He has become fairly close to Charlie Weasley due to his many visits out to Romania to collect various types of dragon bodily fluids. Social circle: The two people with whom Marcus has kept in closest touch are Charlie Weasley and Neville Longbottom. He was introduced to Neville through Luna, with whom he was friendly at school. Marcus was quite upset at Luna's death, and has become closer to Neville and his young daughter since then. Charlie and Marcus tend toward long, detailed (and, let's face it, boring) discussions over several pints about various types of magical creatures (mostly dragons) and their "uses" in developing magical materials.
